For the new resident, you can't beat this insider's guide to what's happening in the city. It doesn't have all the small shops and hidden gems in it, but it is adequate for those who are trying to find their way around the city as a newcomer.

This book is an unusually complete guide to living as an expatriate in Abu Dhabi. I sort of wondered about the guide's objectivity due to the advertisements bound in the book. Still, it answered most of the questions I had, and I ultimately decided not to move there.
