This review is from: Bermuda Adventure Guide (Travel Adventures) (Kindle Edition) Perhaps a two star review is a bit harsh for this book, which does a good job of providing all the background information you need for a trip to Bermuda. The vast majority of the book (80%) is about the history of the islands, culture of the inhabitants and practical details (tipping, clothes, getting around). However, I generally skim those portions of a travel book, in an effort to get to what I consider the "meat." This book apportions next to no space on what you should do or see once you are in Bermuda and NO time at all on where you should eat or stay. Therefore, if you are nervous about travelling to Bermuda and want lots of practical helpful tips, this book might be good for you. But if, like me, you are looking for a travel guide to help you plan a day by day itinerary (what to see, where to stop, what to eat) this is NOT the book you should buy. After buying this book and quickly skimming through it once, I gave up, closed it, and haven't opened it since. I travel quite a bit, and this is hands down the worst guide book I've ever seen. First the organization is terrible: there are separate sections that provide an overview of each town/parish, but then if you want to find out about the beaches or restaurants or hotels, that information is in a separate section. All of the restaurants, not that there are many, are lumped together in a single section. The country is small but it isn't that small: if you want to know about restaurants in St. George you don't want to slog through a list of places in Hamilton. Second, the index is woefully inadequate. I had a devil of a time finding a well known local attraction that I read about in a tourist magazine. Third, the maps are terrible: you either see small parts of towns or else the entire country at a scale that is not helpful.
