Very colourful, many pictures, good maps of Cape Town. Excellent charts. A lot of content set out in a totally unboring way. If you find this guide boring then you are simply not interested in Cape Town. However, if you are interested in Cape Town then you will find out how usefull this book actually is, unless you are planning to live there. This is clearly a tourist guide.
Great map but the guide is only okay,

The map that is included with the book is one of best Cape Town maps I have seen. It is a little big for walking around town (you look like a tourist with a capital "T"!), but it has a street reference and all the tourist sites well marked. The book is more narrative than other guide books, and it is small, so it doesn't good into as much detail. As a tour operator for Adventures Within Reach, I recommend the map to my clients going to Cape Town, but I recommend other books to use as reference.
Falling apart at the creases,

Yes, this map is wrinkled, torn and frayed, but that's what happens after 6 weeks of daily use, constant consultation, in and out of the daypack, folding and refolding. If you plan to spend 'any' length of time in and around CT, take this along with. It was indisposable. Take this map, a guide book of your choice, an Afrikaans phrase book and a bottle of water for an adventure that never ends.
