5.0 out of 5 stars Fodor's Comes Out On Top, July 11, 2011

Although I did not purchase this title from Amazon because I was impatient, I did generally read comparable guides from Frommer's and Lonely Planet. The Fodor's guide is organized and illustrated so much better than the latter. The book starts out with recommendations for trips based on things you want to do, things you want to see, activity level, couples versus children, etc. It makes recommendations on the best time to go to each destination in relation to weather too. It is separated by each island with plenty of content spent on each. There are restaurant reviews and pricing, maps of points of interest, and many more features that cannot be found in other guides. I am impressed and the money was well invested. Thanks again Fodor's for a quality guide at a reasonable price.

I have had several Caribbean travel books over the years, but the Fodor's series always seem to be the best. Partially because they offer a new and updated edition yearly, and partly because it does a great job of covering the many islands and destinations in the Caribbean (not an easy feat). I have found the maps to be helpful while both planning the vacations, and while actually on the islands on vacation. I also really appreciate the hotel and restaurant listings and descriptions. I have found most of the guide book reviews to be pretty accurate with what we have experienced on the islands at the locations we visited. If you are planning a trip to the Caribbean in 2012, this book should be your first step in getting it started...and don't forget to take it with you on vacation, too (where it will undoubtedly come in very handy). Safe travels!

We have been to the Caribbean several times over the years and have used travel guides. This Fodors guide is very informative and will be a good resource for any traveller to the Caribbean. It does a good job of covering the various islands and goes into a good amount of detail on each. It is probably just the right amount for every traveller to the area. The recommendations are good and, as you would expect, the full color pictures are great. But pictures don't give you as much info as the actual content of the guide and I would say this Fodors guide provides timely and useful information.
