This review is from: Fodor's Paris 2011 (Full-color Travel Guide) (Paperback) I used this guide to select a hotel and several restaurants on a recent trip to Paris. All of them were as described in the guide, and several of them I will return to on future trips. For restaurants, this guide is particularly good for adventurous eaters. The map that comes with the guide includes some of the establishments and sights reviewed in the guide, presumably there are too many places reviewed to mark them all on the map. More problematically, there are a number of places where metro stops are either mis-labeled or missing entirely. Overall this is a great guide, the recommendations (both in terms of number and quality) are the best of any Paris guide I've seen. Just don't count on the map to get you where you want to go. 2 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By Ahmed Sawas (New York) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Fodor's Paris 2011 (Full-color Travel Guide) (Paperback) This was my first time in Paris, and I hated this book. It is not easy to use for first time visitors. You need to know what you are looking for. I have to admit towards the end of the trip I found it more useful. I had the National Geographic Guide which was more fun and easy to use. 1 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By Sheila M Thompson "SheilaM" (Tacoma WA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Fodor's Paris 2011 (Full-color Travel Guide) (Paperback) After having been to Paris once, I had an idea what I wanted/needed in a guidebook for my second trip. This is it. Thanks. The website info is up to date, the maps are well-organized, and the suggestions for saving on expenses are inspired, i.e., for 1 euro, you can enjoy the sculptures in the gardens at the Musee Rodin. |
