But I mostly end up leaving the books on the shelf except one -- Frommer's. The descriptions are useful and accurate yet the book doesn't get bogged down in some of the meaningless "noise" of some of the bigger books. This book was obviously written by someone who knows Boston inside and out and who has actually been to the places she writes about (definitely not the case with some of the other guidebooks). The map fold-out at the back is a life-saver. Kudos to Frommer's and the author/editor for this great book. This review is from: Frommer's Boston 2011 (Frommer's Complete Guides) (Paperback) When I get to Boston, about 3 times a year the Frommer's Boston never fails to give an easy and complete description of any special interest I plan to see. The most recent 2012 seems even more comprehensive and descriptive than last year. The writer gives information and explanations which make your visit more fun and easier to find your planned sites. All information, neighborhoods, tours, museums, restaurants, historic houses and especially the limited time frame tours are simple to follow. The cost categories are very accurate, the photos, fast facts and finally the map make it a complete package. Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Frommer's Boston 2011 (Frommer's Complete Guides) (Paperback) You can't go wrong with a Frommers guide. The handy foldout map in the book is perfect. The book even describes the various parts of Boston so it makes it easy to use while you are there. |
