Product Review

Completely updated every year (unlike most of the competition), Frommer's Las Vegas features lavish full-color photos of the spectacle that awaits you. This is simply the most frank, funny, outrageous guide you can buy and it's much more up-to-date and indepth than its competition.

Our author is completely on top of the latest developments in this fast-changing destination, and she'll make sure that you never miss a minute of the fun. She'll give you an irreverent take on all the casino hotels, with all their attractions. She's also scouted out the very best restaurant choices on the very hot dining scene, and honestly reviews all the casinos, shows, clubs, shopping arcades, and golf courses in town.

Whether this is your first Vegas trip, or just your latest, our author will help you make the most of your time. She'll give you a rundown of Vegas culture and casino etiquette, point you to hidden gems and parts of Vegas most visitors miss, and help you plan your perfect Vegas getaway (whether you're throwing a bachelor or bachelorette party, trying to avoid the temptation of the casinos, or just want to squeeze in as many over-the-top only-in-Vegas experiences as possible).

If you want to head outside of town, you won't be left hanging. You'll find plenty of information on the parks and outdoor activities around Vegas, including the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon, and even Area 51.Frommer's Las Vegas also includes a 16-page full-color photo insert!

I was very disappointed with Frommer's Las Vegas 2010. They used the same pictures, maps, etc. as they did for previous editions. They added a few new facts, but it is basically the same book that I first purchased, Las Vegas 2007. There have been many changes in Las Vegas in 3 years and to publish a book including incorrect maps of the strip is not what I would have expected from Frommer's.

What a disappointment. Yes, you can make the argument that most of the information here is still relatively accurate, but this book has basically not been updated in several years. Oh, they added a snippet here and there, but as a whole, it's basically the same. For instance, in the Gambling section, there is NO mention that a great deal of the casinos are moving to Blackjack games that pay 6:5 instead of 3:2 on a blackjack hand: that is really useful information, and I am here to tell you that if you are going to provide a section on gambling, you should talk about what places offer the best odds.
There is a brief section of how Vegas has been especially hard hit by the economic downturn in the introduction, but beyond that, nothing. The review of Red Rock Casino and Resort has remained the same for the last several years: great place but so very very very expensive. Well, I can tell you that this place is very reasonable now, but reading this guide, one would never know...Read more

Frommer's is always a great choice when traveling. This books lists restaurants by taste, selection and price. It lists things to do for free in town. It also vividly describes the shows Vegas has to offer, which is helpful when trying to narrow your show selection down to the top choices. And, the book also has overall area maps and detailed, up-close maps that label the restaurants, free things, and shows it talks about. The slightest complaint I have with this book is that the writers sometimes seem snooty when describing restaurants. Sometimes, I just want to know how the food tastes, not how the place looks. Resoundingly, overall, I highly recommend this book.
