This review is from: Frommer's Paris Day by Day (Frommer's Day by Day - Pocket) (Paperback) This was my "go to" book while touring in Paris this month. It is small in size and very easy for touring. The premise of this book is "What would I do if I had one day in Paris, two days in Paris, etc." The maps are great and there is even a little clear plastic envelope for receipts and a full sized map of Paris and the Paris Metro. The book even helped me find some articles on display in the Louvre. I highly recommend this book for anyone traveling to Paris. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful: By jmack "jmack" (New Joisey) - See all my reviews This review is from: Frommer's Paris Day by Day (Frommer's Day by Day - Pocket) (Paperback) Excellent carry around book with GREAT maps (city and neighborhood level) and ideas to build itineraries with "best of" suggestions, walking tours, etc. There is a total of 22 self guided tours and 40 (!) maps. The foldout front cover with a city map on one side and a very good Paris Metro map (that is easier to understand than the official subway map) were invaluable for getting around efficiently to where you wanted to go. Not great for hotels and restaurants - only useful as a cross reference - use other sources specializing in those areas. It would be 5 stars if it included a bus map that was as good as the Metro map, and, also, inexplicably, it does not include any info on Musee de l'Orangerie where some of Monet's more impressive works reside. Otherwise, if you are a "map person" who likes getting around on their own, this is the guide for you. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Frommer's Paris Day by Day (Frommer's Day by Day - Pocket) (Paperback) This is the third "Day by Day" guide I have purchased from Frommer's and I am again incredibly pleased. If you are not looking for the latest trends in food and nightlife (the specialty of the "Time Out" series) and instead want a guide that gives you a summary of the main highlights of the city, these are the books for you. I used this guide during a week-long stay in Paris and loved it. The fold-out city and metro map on the inside cover was very handy and the book gives advice on itineraries for those with one, two or three days in the city, as well as suggested neighborhood or special-theme tours. |
