Outdated Info,
July 14, 2001 By A Customer
This review is from: Insiders' Guide to Corpus Christi (Paperback)
As a resident of Corpus, I thought this book would be great to have on hand for out-of-town visitors. However, after just a brief run-through, I noticed several things were out of date. This book was published this year, but lists some places (restaurants, movie theaters, and stores) that have been closed for a year or more. I know they had access to accurate and up-to-date information because they also list new places that have opened in the past year, long after some of the other places they listed closed. What happened?

This review is from: Insiders' Guide to Corpus Christi (Paperback)
and still there is no newer guide dedicated to Corpus Christi itself. Sure, it gets coverage in the various Texas guides (Moon, Frommer's, Fodor's) and sometimes gets a small chapter in a "Texas Gulf Coast" guidebook (like Great Destinations), but still - this is the only guide to Corpus. And is it still worth it after all these years? Actually it is. Sure, the restaurant information is dated, so if you want it for that section don't buy it (though some restaurants haven't changes), however the sections on attractions, parts of the city, relocation, festivals and beasically everything else are still very useful. Yes, it's time for a new edition, but as Insider's hasn't done one for 8 years (and doesn't have it in plans at least untill mid-2010) I don't think they'll do a new edition of this title, so while this is still in press, it's really a good idea to buy it.
