Though I'm familiar with the subject, it's been a while since I visited Israel, so I decided a couple of tour books were in order. This one, though full of nice pictures and descriptions, has less detail than I was looking for. The sights covered are cherry-picked with no info on a lot of places. The places chosen for description have a lot of info. A good first guide, but don't expect the depth needed for a return trip.

I've been to Israel a few time and was looking for some new and up to date travel insights. This was not it. The book is current, but does not appear to be up to date for travelers looking for recent travel information and local points of interest. It covered a lot of topics, but not much depth. I would stick with Fodor's or Lonely Planet. There are very few maps.
