Product Review

This opening fold-out contains a general map of Berlin to help you visualize the 6 large districts discussed in this guide, and 4 pages of valuable information, handy tips and useful addresses.

Discover Berlin through 6 districts and 6 maps

Unter den Linden/ Friedrichstadt/ Museumsinsel
Scheunenviertel/ Prenzlauer Berg
Alexanderplatz/ Nikolaiviertel/ Friedrichshain
Kreuzberg
Tiergarten/ Potsdamer Platz/ Schöneberg
Kurfürstendamm/ Charlottenburg

For each district there is a double-page of addresses (restaurants — listed in ascending order of price — cafes, bars, tearooms, music venues and stores) followed by a fold-out map for the relevant area with the essential places to see (indicated on the map by a star *). These places are by no means all that Berlin has to offer but to us they are unmissable. The grid-referencing system (A B2) makes it easy for you to pinpoint addresses quickly on the map.

Transportation and hotels in Berlin
The last fold-out consists of a transportation map and 4 pages of practical information that include a selection of hotels.

A thematic index lists all the sites and addresses featured in this guide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensible!, April 19, 2004

I borrowed this book from the library after buying two other guidebooks in preparation for a trip to Berlin, and I found this book indispensible. While I used the two other books in the planning stages -- deciding on hotels, prioritizing tourist sites, comparing restaurants -- once I arrived in Berlin, it was this handy book that was practically glued to my hand! Thorough, convenient, well-organized, and small enough to slip in a large pocket or tuck into a purse, this Mapguide is my new favorite and a must-buy for every trip. You know that awful feeling when lost in a foreign city, disoriented, trying to find the nearest landmark and having to unfold a gigantic map in the middle of the street? Might as well wear a gigantic sign marking yourself, to friend or foe, as the hick tourist! Plus, it's just annoying and half the time the map falls apart at the creases, and you still can't find where the hell you are. Instead, these Mapguides are well-organized, focusing on touristy areas...Read more

I really like these little books. First, they're small and fit in my camera bag, second they don't flash "tourist" when you open them up. I rarely use the restaurant and other guide info but otherwise they're perfect.
