This review is from: Lonely Planet Caribbean Islands (Multi Country Travel Guide) (Paperback) I must confess that I find Lonely Plant Guides far superior to other travel guides that I have used. That includes National Geographic and Frommer guides. Given that predisposition I found this guide particularly helpful. I spent 4 days in Puerto Rico and then did a cruise through several Caribbean Islands. The LP Guide had a great synopsis of each island with cultural and historical backgrounds. Suggested highlighted sights of importance were on the mark and options for outdoor activities and information on them were accurate. This review is from: Lonely Planet Caribbean Islands (Multi Country Travel Guide) (Paperback) As usual, with this guidebook Lonely Planet gives their unique perspective on the Caribbean Islands. I wish I had this book several years ago. With it I could have avoided many of the tourist traps that gladly take your money, but don't provide any real insight or experiences with local customs, cuisine and culture. If you are planning to travel to the Caribbean, I highly recommend that you bring this travel guide along. As with other Lonely Planet books it is best if you read it before you get to your destination. |
