The authors are fascinated with the destination and their passion comes across in the text, which is lively, revealing, and a pleasure to read. Sidebars highlight unusual facts and tell of local legends, adding to your travel experience. Detailed town and regional maps make planning day-trips or city tours easy. Adventures covered range from town sightseeing tours and nature watching to sea kayaking and organized jungle excursions. Travellers looking for a more relaxed vacation may want to sign up for traditional dance lessons in Bolivia, drum classes in the Dominican Republic, or attend a weaving school in Bolivia - these cultural adventures will introduce you to the people and afford you a truly unique travel experience.

Pocket Adventures Bolivia (Pocket Adventures) (Adventure Guide to Bolivia (Pocket))
This review is from: Pocket Adventures Bolivia (Pocket Adventures) (Adventure Guide to Bolivia (Pocket)) (Paperback)
Over the last two years I have traveled Bolivia four times. Among the score of Bolivian guides that I have reviewed, two stand out: "Pocket Adventures Bolivia" and "Footprint Bolivia". Both are solid guides, yet, both have their flaws.
"Pocket Adventures Bolivia" has great recommendations for both accommodations and restaurants. This book has loads of info on Bolivia. We purchased it a couple of years ago when we planned a trip there. Unfortunately, we never made it, since that was during the time that the government's attitudes towards Americans and the USA were pretty negative. I am keeping it, though, and hoping to use it when we finally do get to go.

Describes history, culture, etc., in brief overviews that give just enough info without being overly long or tedious. Restaurants and hotels are placed into three categories according to price, which is a must for me when I travel. Many travel books only cover budget hotels or high-end hotels, whereas this one runs the gamut. The mid-range hotels I stayed in were very much as described in this book. No complaints.
