Summary: The right way to travel 2010-08-24
Comment: When I first saw Rick Steves many years ago on public television, his travel philosphy resonated with me immediately. One of my favorite Steves quotes--one I always tell my friends who are about to go to Europe--is "The more money you spend, the bigger the wall you build between yourself and the culture you traveled so far to visit." These programs are perfect for budget-conscious travelers and demonstrate how easy it is to have a fulfilling European vacation without spending a lot of money. His books are always in my hand when traveling, and his DVDs are always playing when I'm home.
This set of 80 shows, plus extras, just about covers everything you need to know about traveling in Europe. They are a balanced mix of sightseeing and travel tips. Half of the shows are widescreen transfers of the original HD episodes, and they look fantastic. And the older 4:3 shows look terrific, as well; none of them seem dated. Rick's presentation is energetic and informative, and you can tell he really loves what he's doing.

Comment: After seeing Rick Steves at the LA Travel Show earlier this year I ordered this DVD set and it was a wonderful investment. Every night we would look at a different DVD based on "where we want to go that evening"! Having just returned from 2+ weeks in France and Germany, after purchasing Rick's guidebooks, I can highly recommend him as a resource. I will say, his 3 star ratings on places to stay were more to our personal liking but his DVDs set the stage and the country specific travel books were a huge aid in getting around! I'm a fan!

Comment: We highly recommend this video set for anyone who would like to know more about Europe without leaving home. The quality is great and the information is extremely helpful if you do decide to travel to Europe. Rick Steves is very personable with the viewer and also with his fellow travel guides from other countries. He enables the viewer to get a real sense of how the local people live in each country he visits. This video set is not just your basic travel program. Rick Steves' humor and wit it really brings the viewer to experience it first hand as if you were a travel partner with him. His years of experience bring history to life as he explores the essentials of each country's past with his friends from Europe. And as Rick Steves says, "Happy Traveling!".

Comment: Aloha,
We love to travel and this DVD has a lot of the places we've been...so we can enjoy the memories. It also has many places that we'd love to travel to. The DVDs are watched at dinner time, and it is a wonderful alternative to the sensational news.
Mahalo,
Rudy
