Also a great little souvenir. This little map pops out like origami, and shows you all the little areas of SF. No, it is not the road atlas type of map that takes up the whole front seat, but you don't want to be driving around SF with that one either. Just park and figure out where you're going! This is an exquisite little map that gets you around and tucks away in a small purse. Makes a great gift to the visiting tourist, even though we show them around. Shows clearly where everything is and has insets for Golden Gate Park, Fisherman's Wharf & Pier 39, and the Bay Area as well as a public transit map that is useful... they will want to go on a cable car after all, and the most popular one from Union Square area to Fisherman's Wharf takes a while to get on at either end but there are others. Transit is shown on all the maps, not just the one marked transit, and if you are staying in SF you can get a transit pass that is good for everything, just ask at your hotel.

We purchased one of these in San Francisco years ago and it fell out of my pocket. My husband loved this map so much he had me scour the city and the internet for another copy, so now we have two. If you are driving through the city this map simply won't work. It's too small and not detailed enough, however if you are walking/taking public transportation it is perfect. It has most of the big tourist attractions (although it doesn't list the parrots/gardens of telegraph hill) and it makes it really easy to navigate your way from Union Square to fisherman's warf hitting all the main attractions along the way.

We have been to the city so many times now that we know it by heart but we still carry it with us just in case.

The map is very detailed but isnt a huge area, mostly main area of San Francisco.
