My husband and I spent 3 years driving and touring most of the countries on the continent in our van with our 6 children and it was an absolutely indispensable tool. We kept referring to this travel book above others we had along and eventually shipped the others home when downsizing; SAH was all we needed. Information provided on accommodation ranges from the tight budget traveler to 5 star hotels. We didn't have a complaint about any of the eating-places we found through SAH. I learned quickly that this just gave me a superficial overview of the cities. Hostel owners kept laughing and asking me when didn't I just buy the lonely planet series. This book tries to accomplish too much which results in accomplishing nothing that you can't find on tripadvisor.com. Don't waste your money, buy a book for each country.
