Product Review

This novel explores love, faith, sexuality, and belonging through the relationships among four characters in a typical American town called Ridgeview. The characters are
Dorothy Miller: a middle-aged nurse, she is a Ridgeview native who gave up a child for adoption when she was a teenager. She gets the idea of taking a 10-day meditation retreat.
Mark Loeman: a self-employed editor. He married after discovering that a woman he had met on a beach vacation became pregnant. Now he is restless and unfulfilled.
Louise Loeman: mother and housewife. She copes with many deep insecurities, including doubts about her husband's emotional fidelity, a mysterious illness in one of her children, and the knowledge that she was adopted.
Luc: the stranger in town. He acquires a farm property near Ridgeview and converts it to a Buddhist meditation retreat on behalf of his teacher, a Sri Lankan monk.
If karma makes sense to you, you'll find it a good read.
