Product Review
Mindful of its powerful past but determined not to become a heritage theme park, Athens continues to evolve, with a new metro system, revamped museums, regenerated neighborhoods, and a revitalized arts scene. Written and researched by Athens residents, Time Out Athens takes travelers to Western civilization’s most influential monuments, beautiful beaches within easy reach of town, accommodations from first-class hotels to cozy hostels, restaurants and cafés from traditional taverns to modish haunts, and beyond the city to some of Greece’s many other natural and manmade glories. This second edition features new sidebars, chapter introductions, and photographs, as well as a new chapter on cultural background.

This review is from: Time Out Athens (Time Out Guides) (Paperback)
I recently carried this on my first visit to Athens. The guidebook is useful and easy to follow. Maps were good , although the winding narrow streets in sections of Athens are not easy to map. No problem because wandering lost is one of the best parts of being there , especially in the Plaka and Kolonaki. I felt the descriptions of the neighborhoods and sights were accurate. I used this for a few restaurant selections and that's where I felt it lost a couple of stars. The descriptions in any guide for a city with as many selections as Athens must be limited but I thought Time Out could have done better in that regard. Overall I'd recommend this for first time visitors.
